The Brown University Department of Public Safety provides this notice in compliance with the Timely Notice provision of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. John

Incident

On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at approximately 2:00 am, the Brown University Department of Public Safety was notified of an assault involving two members of the Brown University community. The community members were walking in front of 277 Thayer Street when a dark-colored sedan drove up and began catcalling, trying to get them to approach their vehicle. The community members continued walking when an unknown passenger threw a clear liquid substance from the vehicle that struck both of them in the face. The liquid caused minor irritation but both community members did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was last seen traveling south on Thayer Street. This matter is under investigation by the Providence Police Department. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Providence Police Department at 401-272-3121 or the Brown University Department of Public Safety at 401-863-3322.
