Timely Warning
The Brown University Department of Public Safety provides this notice in compliance with the Timely Notice provision of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
Incident
On Friday, September 16, 2022, the Brown University Department of Public Safety was notified of two aggravated assaults involving Brown University Students.
The Department of Public Safety received notification of the first incident at approximately 9:08 pm. The student and a friend were walking west on Charlesfield Street between Brook and Thayer Street when a silver SUV (possibly an Audi) drove by. The right rear window was rolled down, and one of the students was struck twice in the chest with an unknown projectile. The suspect’s vehicle was last seen operating south on Thayer Street. The student was not injured.
The Department of Public Safety received notification of a second incident at approximately 9:40 pm. A student and two friends were walking west on Angell Street toward Brook Street when a vehicle operating north on Brook Street fired projectiles at the students. One student was struck in the head, and two were hit in the throat. None of the students sustained injuries. The vehicle was described as a dark hatchback and was last seen operating north on Brook St. This matter is under investigation by the Providence Police Department.
