The Brown University Department of Public Safety provides this notice in compliance with the Timely Notice provision of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
Incident
On Wednesday December 8, 2022, at approximately 7:05 pm, the Brown University Department of Public Safety was notified of a Burglary. The community member stated that at approximately 1:00 pm this afternoon they noticed that their wallet was missing from their Benevolent Street room along with their Brown ID and Apple air pod case. The community member told police they were contacted this afternoon that the Brown ID and wallet were found and returned to the community member.
Preliminary investigation has identified a person of interest in this matter described as a college-aged male approximately 5'8" tall and medium build wearing dark clothing and a parka jacket. This matter is under investigation by the Brown University Department of Public Safety. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Brown University Department of Public Safety at 401-863-3322.
Members of the community should note a repositioning of our contract security personnel who are stationed around the campus community. There will be an increase in both patrols around the campus with a focus on residence halls and an increase in the number of police officers patrolling the area.

The Brown University campus community is always encouraged to take the following steps to keep yourself and others safe:
• Be aware of your surroundings, do not allow anyone to enter your residence hall behind you unless you are certain they are a resident.
• Even inside your residence hall, if you need to leave your room for any reason, lock the door behind you
• Report suspicious behavior, even when you are not directly threatened
• If you feel unsafe in any situation, trust your instincts and call Brown DPS at 401-863-3322 or the Providence Police at 401-272-3121
