The Brown University Department of Public Safety provides this notice in compliance with the Timely Notice provision of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
Incident
On Thursday, August 3, 2023, the Brown University Department of Public Safety was notified of a sexual assault that happened on Waterman Street near the Hope Street intersection. A Brown University community member reported walking east on Waterman Street at approximately 12:30 PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 when they were approached from behind and felt someone touching them. The suspect followed the community member for two blocks before leaving the area.
This matter is under investigation by the Providence Police Department. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Providence Police Department at 401-272-3121 or the Brown University Department of Public Safety at 401-863-3322.
