The Brown University Department of Public Safety provides this notice in compliance with the Timely Notice provision of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
NOTE: This report contains information that some may find upsetting. If you are a victim of sexual assault and need help, you can call Brown University Department of Public Safety at 401-863-3322 to make a report and ask to speak with an advocate.
Brown University provides free and confidential support and advocacy through BWell Sexual Harm Acute Response & Empowerment Advocates. To make an appointment with a SHARE Advocate, you can place a request online, email bwell@health.brown.edu, or call 401-863-2794. Contact the 24-hour Sexual Assault Response Line at 401-863-6000.
You may also make a report of sexual or gender-based violence or harassment to the University’s Title IX Coordinator at titleixoffice@brown.edu, by calling 401-863-2026, or by making a report using the Gender Discrimination and Sexual Violence Incident Reporting Form.
Incident
On Saturday, October 26, 2024 the Department of Public Safety received a report that a sexual assault/fondling occurred near Brown’s campus. The incident is reported to have occurred on Friday, October 25, 2024 at approximately 9:00 pm near the intersection of Young Orchard Avenue and Cook Street. The suspect is not known to the victim. The victim was uninjured.
Providence Police is actively investigating this incident, and the appropriate campus units are working with individuals involved to provide resources and support.
